Riel KHMER — OUR CULTURE IS PRICELESS

The Riel KHMER tee is a play on the words “Riel,” Cambodia’s national currency, and “Real KHMER,” but the meaning behind it goes much deeper than the name. This design was created as a celebration of being KHMER and the pride that comes with knowing where we come from. Our culture has been carried through generations in our language, traditions, food, music, art, temples, and the stories of our families. Through everything Cambodia and our people have endured, KHMER culture has continued to survive, grow, and find its way into the next generation, both in Cambodia and throughout KHMER communities around the world.

The Cambodian Riel may have a monetary value, but our culture does not. That is where the message on the back, “Our Culture Is Priceless,” comes from. It is a reminder that the most valuable things we inherit cannot be bought, sold, or measured by money. Our history, identity, traditions, and connection to our KHMER ancestors belong to us, and their value comes from continuing to remember them, protect them, and pass them forward.
